Thrifty Thursdays ๐ธ: 5 Ways to Save Money on Cleaning
1. Dollar Tree Treasures ๐ฐ- Your local Dollar tree probably has a bigger selection of cleaning products than you might think. And at 1.50(not as cheap as they used to be but that’s capitalism baby ๐) they’re a steal! You can find all the essentials that work just as well as brand name products. Everything from brooms and scrub brushes to different types of cleaners all for a dollar. Stock up and save. Some of our favorites are the multipurpose paste (Pink Paste Dupe), their giant jar of stainless steel wipes, and you can’t lose with any of the scrub brushes they offer.
2. Make your own cleaning solutions๐ง - Save money and reduce waste while keeping your family safe from harsh chemicals. My favorite cleaning spray is 2 ingredients you probably already have. A big ass jar, a bunch of orange peels and some vinegar. Bonus tip- buy your kids a bag of cuties, peel them, pull apart the slices and freeze for a quick poppable sherberty snack! Stick the peels in the jar and cover with vinegar. After a couple of weeks you have a powerful disinfectant that’s safe for most surfaces. I make mine in a drink jar with a spout. When it’s ready it’s super simple to pour into a spray bottle, dilute and get to cleaning.
3. Shop during sales ๐ - Stock up on cleaning supplies when they're on sale, especially from dollar general. Every Saturday you can get $5 off of $25, coupled with their awesome sales you can’t lose! Keep an eye on the DG app to catch sales on all your favorite products
4. Reuse and Recycle โป๏ธ Stretch your dollar by getting as many uses out of products as you can! Pumice stone sticks can be broken into three pieces (sometimes more), dawn powerwash bottles can be refilled with liquid dish soap, water and alcohol. Sponges and magic erasers can be cut to whatever size you need while keeping the rest fresh and clean.
5. Buy in bulk โ๐ป Most of your favorite products are available in bigger sizes. Home Depot and Lowe’s have gallon size bottles of all your favs from Mr.Clean to Odoban. 15 bucks now will save you around 20 bucks in individual bottles.
At Messy Mamas Cleaning, we're all about being thrifty and saving you money ๐. Especially in this economy ๐๐
